Sides

French fries or steamed veggies
Coke or Pepsi
Democrat or Republican

Uber cutey, Mccute werewolf boy or Ultra cutey, McCute bloodsucker
(All apologies to fans of Twilight...wait, who am I kidding - I don't care)

All too often sides are chosen based off of preference and not principle.  And that is when it can get ugly.  Emotions run so high that we can develop a "my side is right at all cost" mentality.

That is when the folks on the other side become stupid
That is the point where character is not only called into question - it is a target of destruction.

Sides are chosen all the time and in all places
Government
Home
School
Work
Church

And then this, while Joshua was there near Jericho: He looked up and saw right in front of him a man standing, holding his drawn sword. Joshua stepped up to him and said, "Whose side are you on—ours or our enemies'?"
He said, "Neither. I'm commander of God's army. I've just arrived." Joshua fell, face to the ground, and worshiped. He asked, "What orders does my Master have for his servant?"
Joshua 5:13-14

Forget about my preferences, what are my orders?
I want to be with that guy
